Fact or Fiction: You Need a Degree to Be a Real Estate Investor

Just last week, I hosted the largest Virtual Real Estate Summit of 2020.

During our Summit Q&A sessions, one of the most commonly asked questions- by far- was “Do I need tertiary education to become a real estate investor?”

Here’s the short answer: No.

Now, there are many degree programs advertised online for those who want a career in real estate investment. But I have to tell you something.

These programs are only created so people can make a quick buck. You do not need tertiary education to become a real estate investor.

However, you still need to educate yourself on the topic. The best place to get this information is from other real estate investors. When I first got started in real estate investment, I devoured every bit of information that I could about the industry.

Here are three ways that I gained knowledge about real estate investment without getting a degree:

1. Mentor: I found an investor who had the career that I wanted. After asking him to be my mentor, I simply watched how he conducted business and took note. I still use many of his tips and tricks today!

2. Online Courses: Oftentimes, successful real estate investors will create specialised courses based on their methods. For example, I am passionate about investing in real estate with no money down, as well as closing quality deals quickly and effectively. I did create a short, free ebook on How to Invest in Real Estate with No Money. However, I also created two detailed and comprehensive online courses: the Get Deals Fast System and the No Money No Risk Investing (NMNRI) System.

3. Blogs: Thankfully, there is a plethora of free information available on the internet. Blogs are a fantastic source of information when it comes to real estate investment. However, be careful to only read credible sources. I suggest finding some real estate investors that you trust and reading their blogs. You can take a look at mine here if you’re interested!

You can start a career in real estate investment today- yes, during a pandemic!- and profit. All you need is sound strategy, mentorship and the determination to achieve financial freedom.
